We’re looking for a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our Finance team on a 12-month fixed term contract, with the potential to become permanent. The role is based from Southampton.

 

This role is focused on processing supplier invoices and ensuring payments are made accurately and on time. Working within a busy finance function, you will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting supplier relationships and contributing to the smooth running of the department.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Process supplier invoices onto Dynamics, ensuring correct job costing and VAT treatment
  • Manage invoice approvals to ensure only authorised invoices are paid
  • Set up new supplier accounts within Dynamics
  • Run weekly payment runs, ensuring suppliers are paid in line with agreed terms
  • Maintain accurate electronic records, ensuring all supporting documentation is stored correctly
  • Handle supplier queries, both internally and externally, resolving issues efficiently
  • Support the Accounts Supervisor and wider team to ensure the smooth operation of the finance function

 

Requirements

To be a successful Purchase Ledger Clerk you will have:

  • Previous experience working within an accounts or purchase ledger function
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Confident working both independently and as part of a team
